SPARTANIK

Highlights of 2010 or why that year was so special for us…

365 days … thousands of miles ran in sweat … hundreds of outworn running shoes … months spent away from the families in the training camps … and all that wasn’t wasted, every single minute invested was highly appreciated and rewarded.
As for the statistic data: Spartanik’s Athletes have participated in about 30 marathons in the past year.  The season of 2010 has brought our athletes and Spartanik RS Inc. to new heights, so we are honored to represent:

- Tokyo Marathon Champion – Alevtina Biktimirova (RUS),
- London Marathon Champion – Liliya Shobukhova (RUS),
- Chicago Marathon Champion and new Russian
National Record Holder– Liliya Shobukhova (RUS),
- Baltimore Marathon Champion – Olena Shurkhno (UKR),
- European Cup Team Champions in Marathon –
Tatyana Pushkareva and Silvia Skvortsova,
- 2010 World Marathon Majors Champion – Liliya Shobukhova.

15 of our athletes have succeeded by being placed in top 3 at highly respectable marathons and road races:

- Olena Shurkhno’s 3rd place in Rock-N-Roll Arizona Marathon,
- Silvia Skvortsova’s 3rd place in Los Angeles Marathon,
- Tatyana Pushkareva’s 2nd place in Boston Marathon,
- Alevtina Ivanova’s 2nd place in Prague Marathon,
- Maria Konovalova’s 3rd place in Chicago Marathon,
- Svetlana Ponomarenko’s 2nd place in Twin Cities Marathon,
- Iuliia Arkhipova’s 2nd place in Baltimore Marathon, etc

made our athletes successful development and updated their resumes with new personal records for most of them.

More over, the beginning of 2010 has brought 7 babies (!!!) into the families of our athletes by ruining their training preparation - the new generation of runners, we hope. Luckily the happy mothers were back into shape shortly and will be seen on the road this coming spring already. Galina Bogomolova - one of the 10 strongest world marathon runners after having a second child is back to the marathon distance to set up new records. Olesya Syreva is back on the track setting a new PB of 5:44:89 on 2000 m in January 2011 and her orientation for the nearest future is a smooth transfer to the marathon distance. Natalia Sokolova, Luidmila Biktasheva, Marina Ivanova, Viktorya Klimina are enjoying their motherhood and training at the same time.

Congratulations to every new step whether it’s professional or personal and thank you for the great year!
